It takes just a few moments to read this and get a first feel for one of the most comfortable and well-respected camps around. Then it takes a little commitment from you: the commitment to love and respect campers, to become part of an incredible leadership team, and to immerse yourself in an experience that promises to reward you - personally - as you could never imagine. Ask almost anyone who has ever been a counselor here about their first summer. They will probably tell you stories that will easily explain why so many of them come back here year after year. We are a very special kind of community that re-forms every summer, beginning with the very first day of staff orientation.
The spirit is infectious
You'll feel it from Day One. Then when the campers arrive, the fun - and the serious, hard work - begin. After all, even out here in the sun and the fresh air and amid all the fabulous facilities and equipment, one fact is never forgotten: We - that means every staff member - are caring for parents' most precious possessions, their children. We need to mention something important: You're not out there all by yourself. We're here to help you establish memorable relationships with the campers. You'll be trained by experts, guided by experienced camp professionals, and you'll always have somewhere to turn. As a result, you'll learn a whole lot about yourself and you'll build skills in teamwork, motivation and inter-personal relationships that will serve you will throughout your career - no matter what that might be - and throughout your life.

At the camp, we pride ourselves on this family-like atmosphere, for which we have become known. With the atmosphere of a small and intimate camp and a large staff of dedicated counselors, our campers are ensured quality personal attention. We also strive to offer a great variety of daily activities, allowing campers to improve their skills, learn new talents and most importantly, be safe and have lots of fun.
Join our staff
Thank you for your interest in our camp. We hire both general and specialty counselors. General counselors spend their day with a group of campers, guiding, supporting, and supervising their summer. As a specialist you do not need to have skills in several areas. We are looking for strong background within a given area. When filling out the application, give careful thought to each area and only indicate those areas that you would be comfortable teaching. We are also in search of adults that are looking for leadership positions such as group leaders, department heads and Registered Nurses. Nearly all of our counselors live the cabins with the campers and have duties and responsibilities supervising a group of approximately 6 to 10 campers. We consider this to be an integral aspect of the counselor position. The friendships and experiences in the cabin have a strong impact on the success of a child's summer. The ability to relate to children is a prerequisite for working at our Camp.

Who we are
For more than fifty years, ESNJ has been the vanguard of the social movement whose direction is delivering America's promise of full community membership and independence. When communities in New Jersey realized a need for people with disabilities ESNJ answered that need with the incorporation of the New Jersey Chapter of the National Society for Crippled Children and Adults. Its first office opened on Branford Place in Newark and, at the same time, its residential camping services were established. Ten years later the first "sheltered" workshop opened its doors along with its center for the treatment of drug and alcohol abuse. ESNJ reached its first million-dollar year in the 1970's. The Adult Training Division began its operation with the opening of two Adult Training Centers. In 1978 the name changed, but not the mission. The National Society for Crippled Children and Adults became known as ESNJ, and included residential programs that began in 1979 in several counties. With a budget of nearly $42 million dollars, over ninety cents of every dollar received by Easter Seals New Jersey goes to help individuals with disabilities. Easter Seals New Jersey now has seven service lines and provided services to over 5,000 individuals and families last year with:
· Behavioral Health Services · Camping and Recreation Services · Community Support Services Employment Services · Family and Children's Services · Fiscal Intermediary Services · Personal Assistant Services (Information Referral/Equipment Loan) · Employment Services¨
Today ESNJ answers the needs of all people with disabilities through the establishment of its many services helping people and families with disabilities and special needs live, work and play in their communities with equality, dignity and independence. The real significance of Easter Seals' value is demonstrated through the improvement in the quality of life for the people it serves and the gratitude expressed by their families. ESNJ seeks to provide equal opportunity for all persons seeking services without regard to race, age, sex, marital status, sexual orientation, military status or disability.
